A Tropical Hideaway within the wilds of Adventureland

As 2018 quickly comes to a close, Disneyland gives their guests something shiny and new. In a corner adjacent to the Jungle Boat Cruise, just behind the Enchanted Tiki Room in the old Aladdin’s Oasis Restaurant (and show once upon a time), The Tropical Hideaway joins the Quick Service Disney Restaurant selection. The tiki torches that aluminate the entrance were very striking during our Christmas Night visit.

With a few things on the menu in the category of food there 3 varieties of Bao- Vegetable, Beef and Chicken, chilled Ramen Salad, Pineapple Lumpia and various fruits. In MY food group, which most people call dessert, there are Pineapple/Orange and Pineapple/Raspberry swirls, Dole Whip and a Loaded Dole Whip. Big note: there are only bottle water and bottled sodas here.

After taking a tour of the area, we sat down to sample a couple of the menu items- Beef and Chicken Baos and a Loaded Whip. The Baos are round steamed buns stuffed with Lime Chicken and Bulgogi Beef. Bulgogi Beef is a Korean dish meaning “fire meat”- I had to look that one up. The Baos are meant to be a meal and are $5.99 each. The Loaded Whip is a super duper Dole Whip with 2 flavors of swirls- I chose the Pineapple and Raspberry combo, topped with tropical fruit and crystalized Hibiscus. Oh and don’t forget the straw-like cookies dipped in chocolate. All this yummyness for $7.99 and it was totally worth it. What we enjoyed is pictured below. PS- There is also no Annual Passholder discount for this location.

You can sit and relax after visiting the Enchanted Tiki Room or after your Jungle Cruise adventure. Rosita, a cockatoo from the Enchanted Tiki Room, will tell you some jokes, skippers aboard the boats of the Jungle Cruise could make fun of you or you may even have a gong rung for you with your order. The ambiance is cozy and we didn’t feel rushed, so it really could be a place to chill for a bit. There is a lot to see within the decor and I am sure much more to discover upon return visits.
