It’s no shock to say that this Duo LOVES the Halloween season and it’s by far our favorite time of the year. But it is also safe to say that this Trio (which includes our Daughter) also loves when a family friendly Halloween event comes along that we can all enjoy together! That is why we were all so excited to head on out to Magic of the JackO’Lanterns in El Monte this past weekend!

Located in the picturesque Whittier Narrows Recreation Area, it was lovely seeing these carved creations nestled within the trees with the backdrop of the moon shining off of the water. That, and the slight chill in the air really made it feel like we were on a Halloween adventure.

The mesmerizing sights start as soon as you step across the threshold. Pumpkins carved in a wide variety of facial expressions are waiting to welcome you and things just escalate from there! Also, an important note for all Adults and parents…you can buy yourself an adult beverage at the “libation location” (our name not theirs) outside the entrance to the experience.

We were awed and amazed by the many different types of pumpkin displays we saw as we made our way around the event. From dinosaurs, nautical sea creatures, celebrity likenesses, pop culture references and even pumpkin snowmen! It is hard to think of something they didn’t carve!

One of our favorite parts of the night (and definitely our kiddo’s favorite) would have to be the several interactive elements throughout the event. The first one we came across was the haystack maze! Standing roughly 4 feet tall, our daughter had the time of her life running through and trying to find her way out! I think she would have spent the whole night in there if she could.

Next we came to probably the highlight of the night for us…the spinning tunnel! A staple of any carnival fun house, this was our little kiddo’s first experience with this particular attraction and she loved it! Her first attempt walking through included us holding her upright. Then she wanted to do it herself and nearly fell on the platform inside because it really made you feel dizzy. Clearly that didn’t deter her because she went through at least 10 times! This tunnel led to a fun extra path of pumpkins, as well as an energetic haunted house projection that was truly captivating to watch!

There are so many fun moments throughout the event that I would call “highlights” of our night. Another one for us would have to be in the nautical section of the pumpkin display. Surrounded by a shipwreck, you can imagine the delight that filled our little girl when she discovered fog filled bubbles emerging from the wreckage. The sounds of laughter as she popped bubble after bubble and watched the fog burst out was music to our ears.

Now of course there were some food and beverage options available! If you get a bit peckish during your stroll you can make a pit stop for some grub! There were several options available, all of the fair food variety. Loaded French fries, corn dogs, funnel cakes and ice cream to name a few. We decided to feel like kids again, and chowed down on come grilled cheese sandwiches! This is also another area where you can get your libations as well.

Eventually, our adventure came to an end and we reached the exit. Our kiddo immediately asked to do the whole thing again! I think that speaks for itself. But that’s not quite the end of our adventure, we still had to visit the gift shop!

We are not exaggerating when we say that we fell in love with all of the merch offered at this event. There were so many adorable spooky offerings, we had a hard time deciding what we wanted most. In the end, we all left with something. Gabe snagged one of the stellar event tees, Nikki got an adorable pair of spooky earrings, and our kiddo left with a new best friend that she affectionately named BATTY!

Before we left we also had to hit up the two photo ops! These are such a cute way to capture the memory of the event and get a cute souvenir!

OVERALL

Magic of the Jack-o-Lanterns is a whimsical adventure for the whole family during the Halloween season while still remaining incredibly affordable. At a cost of only $24.99 for adults and $19.99 for kids; Magic of the Jack-o-Lanterns is able to delivery on quality while still keeping money in your pocket. Money aside, it truly gets you into the spirit of the season, and you just might find yourself dancing in a disco pumpkin tunnel. We know we did!
