A Magical Summer at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Hollywood

Butter Beer Ice Cream has magically appeared at Universal Studios Hollywood along side the Nighttime Light at Hogwarts Castle show. As huge fans of the Christmas light show at Universal Studios Hollywood, we were extremely excited to FINALLY view this show. Unfortunately the last time the show was being offered, we didn’t get a chance to see it. As Harry Potter fans, this made us extremely sad. But that has all been lifted away, as if Hermoine herself said “Wingardium Leviosa” and everything was better in the world.

We were blown away by the crisp and colorful projections on Hogwarts Castle. Although short, the show truly packs a punch. I happened to catch two viewings of the show and each time a house was represented on the castle, the crowd would cheer! I’ve never seen a crowd get so into a projection show like this before!

Before I staked my claim on a valuable spot to view the show, I ran over to grab myself some Butter Beer Ice Cream, which magically appear at the Wizarding World recently. As one of the Universal reps said, they are in soft “serve” openings of the ice cream at the moment. All and all, it is exactly what you would expect from a delicious cold ice cream treat, packed with butter beer flavor. I know a lot of people will already be asking, is it better than Orlando’s soft serve version? Personally, I do not think it is. But, if this is what we have in Hollywood, trust me when I say it is a great option instead of hopping on a 6 hour flight to Orlando. Or even worse, not having any at all! Regardless, what we have here is delicious and amazing all it’s own. Maybe next time I will put my ice cream in a butter beer and make a Butter Beer Float! All in all, with the mix of the delicious sweet treat of Butter Beer Ice Cream and the spectacle that is The Nighttime Lights at Hogwarts Castle, summer at Universal Studios Hollywood is sure to be magical. Here’s the scoop, Butterbeer™ ice cream is now being served at “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™” at Universal Studios Hollywood™, arriving just in time for summer.

The rich palate-pleasing Butterbeer-flavoured hard pack ice cream is a delightful and delicious new addition to the menu of Butterbeer items currently available, including such Butterbeer favorites as traditional, frozen and hot beverages, as well as Butterbeer Potted Cream and Butterbeer Fudge. Reminiscent of butterscotch and shortbread, Butterbeer ice cream is perfectly fine-tuned as a cool Hogsmeade treat and will be served at various carts located within Hogsmeade and at Three Broomsticks™.

Gathering inspiration from historic British taverns, the adjoining Hog’s Head pub features original draught beers and spirits created exclusively for the land, including Hog’s Head Brew, Dragon’s Scale, Wizard’s Brew and Fire Whisky.  Also available are Pumpkin Fizz and Gilly Water and the three Butterbeer choices: traditional, frozen and hot.

Inspired by J.K. Rowling’s compelling stories and characters that were brought to life in the Warner Bros. films, “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter” at Universal Studios Hollywood is a masterful recreation, faithful to the visual landscape of the fiction and films, including as its iconic focal point, Hogwarts castle.
